Louis Boiragi, is a master practitioner of counselling and consultancy services in mental health and addiction, child welfare, advanced clinical and consultative social work.
Louis has over 35 (thirty-five) years of experience in social work and community social services with non-profit organizations, agencies, and the United Nations System.
Louis is a Registered Social Worker (R.S.W.), Psychotherapist, Counsellor, and Researcher. He is registered with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW). Registration No. 12060. Status – membership in good standing.
Louis also is a Registered Social Worker (R.S.W.) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Registration No. 822698.
Louis is a Member of the British Columbia Association of Social Workers (BCASW). He also is a Member of the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW), Ottawa.
Louis is enthusiastic about social justice, strengthening relationships, and providing a caring, respectful and compassionate place to support the social, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being of individuals, youth, adults, couples, families, groups, and communities in collaborative partnerships.
Louis immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 2009 from South Asia and has been living in Prince George, British Columbia since 2014.

Social Worker, Counsellor & Consultant
Louis obtained his Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree with a specialization in child welfare from Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario in 2016.
Louis conducted major research on child welfare system, policies, and practices and researched intensively how the child welfare system affects children, youth, and their families including Aboriginal populations and other racialized communities. Research published as a Peer Reviewed Journal (2016), Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario.
Louis obtained his Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) degree from Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario in 2013.
Louis also has a Bachelor of Social Science (B.A.) degree from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh in 1981.
AHANA COUNSELLING & CONSULTING: Louis is in professional practice and provides psychotherapy, counselling, and consulting services to individuals, families, and communities on mental health and addiction, child welfare, and advanced clinical and consultative social work services. As an anti-oppression practitioner (AOP), he advocates for social justice, equity, and diversity and provides support to people for strengthening relationships, empathy, and equality in collaborative partnerships.
Northern Health: Louis joined the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) in 2017 and is working as a Clinical counsellor in Mental Health and addiction in Prince George, BC.
Ministry of Children & Family Development (MCFD): In 2016, Louis worked for a short time with the MCFD, Quesnel, BC, as an Auxiliary Child Protection Worker.
United Nations Service Experience: Louis worked for over 16 years with the United Nations System. He worked with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNICEF, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and The World Bank (WB). He provided leadership to the management for the implementation of national projects by strengthening the capacities of communities for their empowerment in collaboration with the government, non-profit organizations, and international development partners.
Volunteer Work and Non-Profit Organization Experience: Louis has comprehensive volunteer work experience. He volunteered with the Salvation Army and The Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto, Ontario. He provided mentorship to two internationally trained professionals at Woodgreen Community Services, Toronto, who have been hired in their respective fields within four months.
In July 1991, while working with the United Nations, Louis founded with like-minded friends a non-profit organization titled the Bangladesh Association for Sustainable Development (BASD). As Chairman, he led BASD from 1995 until 2009 and successfully implemented over 22 non-profit projects on primary health care, HIV/AIDS prevention, adult education, skills training, micro-credit loan programs, employment, and Eco-village for the sustainable development of marginalized communities for empowerment.
Louis founded Khulna Diocese Christian Society (KDCS), a non-profit charitable organization in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1997. Govt. Reg.No.S-5139 (252)/05. He was the Chairman (1997–2001 and 2005–2008).
In addition, as a Social Worker, Louis volunteered with various charitable non-profit organizations, including the YMCA, The Christian Co-operative Credit Union Ltd., The Metropolitan Christian Co-operative Housing Society Ltd., and the Catholic Church in Bangladesh.
